Box Score 2 CBC wins the Coach G Memorial Classic in straight sets over Everett 3-0. Earlier in the day, they beat Lower Columbia 3-2 in the final match of pool play.
Basin opened up with their final game of pool play needing a win against Lower Columbia to qualify as the 1-seed in Pool A. The Hawks were able to get an early set win despite the strong play from the Red Devils. Both teams exchanged sets back and forth with neither team taking a commanding lead in any. LCC delivered a quality performance that put the Hawks on their heels heading into set 5. In need of a spark, Basin got one with a few blocks and big time kills from
Kaylie Christopher. CBC propelled out to a 12-5 lead which they would carry to the 5-set win 15-6 moving them on to face Everett in the championship game.
In their second meeting with Everett on the year, Basin looked as if there were no secrets left to learn. From the first whistle the Hawks dominated the game from start to finish with scores of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-10. The Trojans made a late run in the first to cut the score down to 23-20 but the Hawks were able to get a kill from
Zuri Reeser to stave off any comeback. Sets 2 and 3 were all Hawks as they mounted big 10 point leads in both frames with quality passing the lead to strong attacks.
CBC moves to 7-2 on the year and will host Edmonds in a Tuesday night solo game on September 3rd before heading to the Mt. Hood Crossover on September 13th.
