Columbia Basin defeated Treasure Valley at home 4-0.
Alex Martinez,
Rafael Lucio,
Julian Reyes and
Humberto Cervantes all scored in the effort.
Putting a cap on the week, CBC cruised over Treasure Valley for their 3rd region win in a row. Martinez got on the board first in the 14th minute off a beautiful touch pass from Lucio to put the Hawks ahead early. Normally slow starters at home, Basin was able to score 2 in the first half as Lucio added a stoppage time goal off a free kick just beyond the arc. That marks the 3rd time this season that Lucio has scored on a direct kick.
CBC outshot the Chukars 25-4 on the day as their ball control kept it away from Treasure who did not have many opportunities. In the 54th minute, Reyes drew a foul from behind in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. The sophomore midfielder converted the opportunity himself to make it 3-0. In the 61st minute,
Rudy Silva found a streaking Cervantes who scored on the timely pass for the 4th and final goal of the day leading CBC in to the house with the 4-0 win.
The Hawks move to 5-0 (3-0 East) and remain in sole possession of first. They will enter into a tough week beginning with rival Walla Walla on the road Wednesday at 2pm before returning home to face Spokane.
