Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Christopher's 15 kills leads CBC past Edmonds in 4 sets

Columbia Basin defeated Edmonds 3-1 at home to move to 8-2 on the year. Kaylie Christopher lead the CBC hitters with 15 kills while Zuri Reeser added 12. Hi'ilei Fuqua assisted on 26 of the 39 Hawk kills.

In a rare Tuesday evening preseason tilt, the Edmonds Tritons came through Pasco for a solo game. Basin had previously defeated the Tritons in Everett 3-0 but Edmonds wasn't going down lightly in this one. The Tritons used a 10-1 run to put away the first set 25-15 in convincing fashion leaving the Hawks looking for answers.

From there, the fist fight went back and forth as Basin began to dig in and grind away. Lead by Reeser, The Hawks used a late 5-1 run to pull ahead 23-20 in Set 2 before Camille Collins and Christopher went back-to-back to even the match up at 1-1.

Edmonds began pounding on the pins early in the 3rd to jump ahead 13-6 but CBC timeout allowed Collins to serve up a 8-0 run helped by multiple Edmonds attack errors to climb back ahead 18-15 before an Edmonds timeout. The Tritons pulled back in the lead at 22-21 but multiple errors and timely defense from CBC helped them take set 3- 25-23.

The Fuqua to Christopher connection started to gain momentum in Set 4 as both teams alternated points through a 19-18 score. From there, 3 attack errors from Edmonds allowed CBC to take a 23-19 lead. The Tritons did their best to comeback but Reeser sent a shot to the ground for the game-point and the 25-22 win and the 3-1 final.

CBC improves to 8-2 on the year including a 5-game win streak. They will get a week off to rest and recover before heading to Gresham, OR for the Mt. Hood Crossover where they will open up against Lower Columbia and Rogue on Friday the 13th.
