Columbia Basin settled for a 2–2 draw against Walla Walla on Saturday afternoon at home, despite a strong first half that saw the Hawks dominate both possession and pace.
The home side came out confident from the opening whistle, moving the ball cleanly through midfield and creating consistent chances. Their pressure paid off in the 36th minute when Alex Martinez broke through the Walla Walla backline and slotted home the opening goal to make it 1–0. Just three minutes later, David Ochoa doubled the advantage, finishing off a smart assist from Marco Almazan to put Columbia Basin up 2–0 heading into halftime.
The Hawks continued to control much of the second half, earning six corner kicks and forcing multiple defensive stops from Walla Walla. Goalkeeper Caleb Coronel stayed composed in net, coming up with several key saves to maintain the lead. However, fatigue and a late Walla Walla surge shifted the momentum. The Warriors pulled one back in the 79th minute through Zaid Arguello, then equalized in the 85th minute with a goal from Danny Gonzalez just moments before a Walla Walla red card.
Columbia Basin pushed hard in the closing minutes—earning one last corner in stoppage time—but couldn't find the winning strike. Despite the frustrating finish, the Hawks showed strong attacking form and defensive structure, remaining unbeaten in league play. They'll look to build on this performance as conference action continues next week.
