Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer dominates in 6-1 win over Central Washington Sounders

Columbia Basin put on a commanding display Wednesday afternoon, defeating Central Washington Sounders Club 6–1 at home to improve to 9–1–1 on the season. The Hawks controlled possession from the opening whistle, using their depth and pace to overwhelm the visitors.

Felix Mendoza opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing off a low cross from Bryan Martinez to give Columbia Basin an early lead. Despite several more chances in the first half, the Hawks entered the break up just 1–0. That changed dramatically after halftime.

In the 64th minute, Jorge Perez doubled the advantage with a clean strike from inside the box. Just six minutes later, Mendoza struck again for his second goal of the day, assisted by Jayson Castillo. Castillo would go on to deliver one of the best playmaking stretches of the season—recording three assists in a span of just five minutes. His pinpoint passes set up Jayden Barajas in the 72nd, Julio Andrade in the 73rd, and kept the pressure high throughout the second half.

Jorge Ibarra capped the Hawks' offensive surge with an assist to Francisco Silva in the 76th minute, pushing the lead to 6–0 before Central Washington managed a late consolation goal in the 88th.

Goalkeepers Andres Campos, Alex Arceo, and Caleb Coronel combined for four saves, helping Columbia Basin keep control throughout. The Hawks fired 17 total shots, 13 on frame, while holding Central Washington to just six.

With the 6–1 victory, Columbia Basin once again showcased its attacking balance and relentless tempo—six different players contributing to the scoring plays. The Hawks will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup as they continue the chase for another region title.
