Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ochoa sets goal record; Hawks blow out Timberwolves

From the opening whistle, Columbia Basin made a statement on their home field, powering past Blue Mountain in a commanding 9–0 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks controlled every phase of play, overwhelming the Timberwolves with relentless pressure and precise attacking.

David Ochoa set the tone with another spectacular performance, recording a hat trick and an assist as he set the CBC single season goal record with 19 goals and counting. His first goal came in the 33rd minute off a setup from Jayson Castillo, and he followed it with strikes in the 43rd and 55th minutes to blow the match wide open. Angel Castillo opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing a crisp pass from Ochoa to give Columbia Basin the early lead they would never relinquish.

After a 3–0 halftime advantage, the Hawks turned up the tempo even more in the second half. Goals poured in from across the lineup — Angel Cadenas (52'), Felix Mendoza (61'), Rudy Silva (65'), Julio Andrade (70'), and Axel Arellano (79') each found the back of the net, showcasing the team's remarkable depth and balance.

Defensively, Columbia Basin was nearly flawless. Goalkeeper Caleb Coronel recorded the shutout without facing a single shot on goal, thanks to a disciplined and cohesive back line anchored by Sebastian Magana and Jorge Ibarra. The Hawks also dominated possession, outshooting Blue Mountain 34–2 and earning a staggering 12 corner kicks.

It was a complete team effort — high energy, sharp passing, and clinical finishing — as Columbia Basin earned their most decisive win of the season. With the victory, the Hawks will travel to Spokane for a showdown that will decide the East Region title on Wednesday October 29th.
