Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain at home 4-0 for Sophomore Day.
Iva Hunt,
Hailey Despres,
Myah Giles all netted goals in the shutout.
With just two games remaining in the regular season, the Hawks needed a big win over dangerous Blue Mountain to stay in the hunt for a region title and they got just that. Scoring off 3 set pieces in the first half,
Iva Hunt put away a rebounded Despres attempt off a corner kick in the 14th minute. Despres found net herself in the 26th minute off another corner kick from
Darby Adams. CBC was aggresive and controlled the tempo of the match from wire to wire as Giles nailed home a free kick from 20 yards out to make it 3-0 in the first half.
Outside of halftime, the Hawks went on cruise control as Despres put another shot away off a beautiful pass from Giles for the 4th and final goal of the day. With the win, CBC will head to Spokane on Wednesday October 9th in the final match of the regular season. If CBC wins, they will repeat as region champs for the second year in a row.
