Despite falling in straight sets to Spokane, Columbia Basin was neck and neck with the Sasquatch throughout the duration of the match.
After a slow start in the opening frame, the Hawks regrouped and found their rhythm behind setter Marissa Duncan, who tallied 25 assists and spread the offense effectively. Olivia Willis led the charge with 9 kills and 11 digs, bringing steady energy in both the front and back rows. Adalei Lefebvre added 8 points and a team-high 3 solo blocks, while Eva Biladeau chipped in 7 kills and 8 digs to keep Columbia Basin within striking distance throughout the match.
The second set was the turning point, as the Hawks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead fueled by strong serving from Auddy Gray, who posted 3 aces and 14 digs on the night. Although Spokane managed to rally late, Columbia Basin's ability to stay composed and push the set to 25-23 showed the team's growing confidence and resilience.
Even down the stretch, Columbia Basin battled for every point, out-digging Spokane 56-60 and showing sharper defensive communication than in previous outings. With balanced contributions across the board and improved efficiency as the match progressed but they ultimately could not get the result.
They will travel to Treasure Valley on Friday night to get another crack at the Chuckars in Ontario starting at 6pm Mountain time (5pm Pacific).
