Columbia Basin improved to 2-0 with another home win against Linn-Benton 81-60. CBC opened the game with immediate control on both ends of the floor, building a 28–13 lead after the first quarter. The first two defensive stops turned into transition scoring, starting with Sadie Tanner's layup at 9:57, followed by Amber Swan's steal and fast-break finish at 9:40. By the 9:00 mark, Hailey Jamison added a three-pointer to extend the lead to 7–0. Through the first ten minutes, Basin forced five turnovers and produced 14 points in the paint.
Early in the second quarter, the Hawks kept advantage behind defensive pressure. Tanner recorded six steals in the period, and we held Linn-Benton to 15 points. Nekha Roehl added five points in the quarter, including three made free throws. Although the offense slowed slightly, we maintained a 43–28 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Basin matched Linn-Benton's 17 points. Tanner continued to contribute, scoring four points and adding two more steals. Swan scored seven points in the quarter, hitting a three at 6:40 and finishing multiple plays created off steals and rebounds. The defense forced six turnovers in the period, allowing them to retain a double-digit lead entering the fourth.
The Hawks closed the game with a 21-15 advantage in the final quarter. Jamison, Roehl, and Tanner each added key baskets. Saphia Lazrak produced six fourth-quarter points and secured three defensive rebounds. The lead reached its largest margin of 23 with 4:27 remaining. Throughout the period, Basin forced four additional turnovers and converted them into scoring opportunities.
Overall, the Hawks finished with 81 points on 30-of-75 shooting, including seven made threes. We recorded 20 assists, 18 steals, and forced 22 turnovers. Five players scored in double figures: Roehl (20), Jamison (19), Tanner (15), Swan (14), and Lazrak (6). The defensive activity and rebounding set the pace from start to finish.
CBC moves to 2-0 on the season and will travel to Walla Walla for the Warrior Classic on November 21st where they will open up against Green River at 4pm.
