Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain 70-62 at home.
Keiren Brown scored 18 while
Kaden Bethel added 13 and 14 rebounds in his new starting role.
In need of a win to close out a positive first half of league play, the Hawks were able to get a win again Blue Mountain despite missing their leading scorer
Coleton Hansen. The defense was stout in the first half, allowing just 26 points and taking a 4 point lead. Brown scored 12 of his 18 in the half while
Bobby Siebers knocked down a pair of triples early for CBC.
Suspect free throw shooting for the Hawks allowed Blue to hang around for most of the second half but in the final 5 minutes,
Zander Kamai was able to take control with 3 straight buckets at the rim to extend the lead to 12 points for CBC. Kamai's 12 second half points and and Bethel's 9 points and 10 rebounds made the lead unreachable as a late attempt by the T-wolves was ineffective as Basin finished with the 70-62 final.
The Hawks move to 4-3 in conference keeping them tied with Treasure Valley with a rematch on the horizon in Ontario. CBC will take on the Chukars on February 5th before traveling to Spokane.
