Hawks finish the day strong in split with Walla Walla at home

Columbia Basin split a non-league double-header with Walla Walla by scores of 4-7 and 6-1. Jason Schuler got the win in Game 2 going 6 innings and giving up just 1 run on 2 hits.

GAME 1

Facing a bevy of injuries, CBC took the field against Walla Walla in a non-league matchup. Starter Dylan Schlenger was good early on allowing just 1 hit over his first 3 innings of work. Walla plated one in the 4th to take an early lead but CBC came right back with 3 runs in the 5th on a sac fly by Isaac Antunes and an RBI single from Lance Anderson. As the Hawks went to the bullpen, the Warriors were able to string some hits together resulting in 6 runs over the next two innings for a 7-3 lead.

A sacrifice fly from Caleb Eisenhower in the 9th was not enough as Basin fell 7-4 in the first game.

GAME 2

The bats came alive in the second game just in time as freshman Jason Schuler turned in a gem. Walla got to Schuler in the second for one run but that would be it as the rightly went on to finish 6 allowing just the two hits. Elijah Havey tied it up with an RBI groundout in the 4th before Ambrose Driver connected in a big 2-out 2-RBI single giving Schuler a 3-1 lead.

Schuler eventually gave way to Jake Matson who struck out 3 in his 1 inning of work. As the sun began to set in the 7th, Caden Yesford doubled in a run to start a rally. Braiden Bond kept the hit parade going with an RBI double before Anderson brought home the final run on a sac fly. After a pitching change by Walla and another walk, the game was called due to darkness giving CBC the 6-1 win.

The Hawks move to 6-2 on the year with a big 4-game series against undefeated Everett coming up.
