Columbia Basin split a double header at home versus Walla Walla. The Hawks took Game 1 3-0 behind a stellar performance from
Dylan Schlenger but dropped Game 2 8-10.
GAME 1
Dylan Schlenger and
Branson Rozier combined for 9 inning shut out in Game 1. Schlenger went 7 innings scattering 6 hits and striking out 6. Basin scored two in the bottom of the 2nd with 2-out RBIs from
Caleb Eisenhower and
Isaac Antunes to make it 2-0.Â
Alex Chamberlain doubled in
Diego Escandon in the 8th for one insurance run before Schlenger gave way to Rozier in the 8th. Rozier finished his 2 innings with 2 strike outs, no walks and two hits for the save and the 3-0 final.
GAME 2
A hitter friendly game in the second contest of the day saw the Warriors come away with a late win on a 4-run 9th inning. CBC lead 4-3 heading into the 5th with starter
Jason Schuler navigating a shaky start. In the 5th,
Cole Rohlmeier and
Braiden Bond went back-to-back with two home runs giving Basin a 6-3 lead.
As both bullpens began to show wear after a long week, Walla Walla plated 3 runs in the 6th to tie it up off a few walks and a CBC miscue on defense. Bond lead off the bottom of the 8th with a triple to left center before
Jacob Reece hit a deep sac fly to give the Hawks a 7-6 lead heading into the 9th.
After a walk and two slow chopper infield hits, The Warriors reached on an error and then singled in two more for the 10-7 lead. Escandon hit a double to left the plated
Lance Anderson but it wasn't enough as CBC fell 10-8.
