Columbia Basin defeated Spokane in a pair of home games while clinching an East Regional title in 2025.
Lauryn Krick went the distance in the circle for the Hawks with 13 innings pitched and just 2 runs on the day.
GAME 1
Krick was dazzling in Game 1 allowing just 1 hit in 5 innings of work with no walks and 7 strikeouts. At the plate, her 3-RBI triple propelled CBC to a 7-run 3rd inning.
Halli Lott and
Vivian Pimentel each drove in runs capitalized by Pimentel's 2 RBI double giving the Hawks a 8-0 lead.
Krick finished off the Bigfoot in short order for the early finish in 5 innings at 8-0.
GAME 2
A pitchers duel in Game 2 saw CBC struggle to get it going at the plate. Spokane took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd off a 2-out RBI single. Krick was still firm allowing just the 1 run in the first 7 innings. Basin seemed off-balance at the plate with multiple hitters visibly upset with the strike zone at the plate. Krick's seeing-eye single tied it up at 1-1 in the 5th.
Basin loaded the bases in the 6th and 7th but were unable to come away with a run as both teams headed to extra innings tied at 1. Again, Spokane was able to work a walk and scratch a single at the right time with 2 outs to take a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th.Â
Staring at their last ups, Christopher lead off with a single to left. In her first AB since injuring her ankle,
Anna-Marie Shaffer worked a late count single putting 2 runners on for
Jaycee Jacobson. Jacobson lined a double to left bringing home Christopher and moving runners to second and third. From there, Lott sent a ground ball in the hole at second that was more than enough to score Jacobson for the walk-off and the 3-2 final.
The two wins move CBC to 36-2 on the year and clinches their first region title under Coach Montessa Califano. They will hit the road for double-headers against Wenatchee and Yakima Valley to finish off the regular season before heading into the NWAC Championship tournament.Â
