Columbia Basin controlled the game from the second quarter on and earned a 76–53 home win over Treasure Valley on Tuesday night. The Hawks improved to 15–5 overall and 5–2 in conference play.
Basin trailed early 13–17 after the opening quarter but shifted the game with a strong second period, outscoring the Chukars 27–11 to take a 40–28 lead into halftime.
Treasure Valley struggled offensively during that stretch, scoring just 11 points in the second quarter after posting 17 in the first. Columbia Basin's defense limited clean looks and forced extended possessions, allowing the Hawks to build separation before the break.
The Hawks continued to extend the margin in the third quarter, scoring 19 points while holding Treasure Valley to 15. The Hawks entered the fourth quarter with a 59–43 advantage and maintained control for the remainder of the game. Basin added 17 points in the final period, matching Treasure Valley's output in the quarter to close out the contest.
The Hawks finished with 76 total points after scoring at least 17 points in three of the four quarters. Treasure Valley was held to 53 points and did not score more than 17 points in any period after the first quarter.
The final two minutes reflected the overall flow of the night, with Columbia Basin protecting the ball, working through its offense, and preventing any late momentum shift. Treasure Valley was unable to cut the deficit below 20 down the stretch as Columbia Basin closed the game without issue.
Columbia Basin will look to carry the balanced scoring and defensive consistency into its next conference game on the road at 0-7 Blue Mountain Saturday at 4pm.
