Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain and Treasure Valley in 4-game weekend to open up conference play at home.
On Friday, CBC opened up with a big 15-run first game including a 6-run 6th inning to pull away late.
Laci Ross connected on an early home run and then later, a game-ending 2-RBI single. In the second game of the day, both teams traded leads back and forth in a long-running game.
Hannah Robertson,
Macey McCuistion and
Rylee Miller all blasted home runs in support. With daylight disappearing fast,
Maddy Blood was able to toss zero's in the 5th and 6th inning allowing the Hawks to earn the win in a daylight halted game.
Saturday against the Chukars, the Hawks were able to keep the momentum rolling. Robertson and and
Halli Lott gave Basin an early lead with home runs in the first inning. Blood was effective in the circle finishing with 5 innings and allowing just 4 earned runs. Ross again doubled to end the game early with 2 RBIs coming across for the 14-6 win.
In Game 2, a pitcher's duel emerged as
Dallaney Unseth held TV scoreless for 5 innings. McCuistion and Ross both had RBIs in the first giving CBC a 2-0 lead heading all the way into the 6th. The Chukars scored 3 to take the lead but the Hawks roared right back with 3 of their own in the bottom of the frame. Miller belted another home run before
Jaycee Jacobson tripled to right field bringing in the eventual winning runs. Unseth sat the Chukars down in short order in the 7th handing CBC the win and the sweep for the weekend.
The Hawks will travel to Wenatchee Valley and Yakima Valley on the weekend of March 27th/28th where they will look to stay undefeated in conference play.
