Columbia Basin fell to Skagit Valley in the Sweet 16 of the NWAC tournament 91-58.
Zander Kamai scored 15 for the Hawks in the losing effort while
Levi Pepper added 11.
In a series of unfortunate events, CBC found themselves without starting big man
Kaden Bethel and starting guard
Zadkiel Rodarte as the entered the Championship tournament. From the jump, the Hawks seemed to struggle getting easy looks in the paint while on the other end, Skagit came out to a blazing start hitting 7 of their first 10 3-pointers. Basin could not get much going early despite some good outside looks and found themselves down big leading into halftime.
Outside of the break, Basin was able to ramp up the offense with Kamai scoring 13 of his 15 in the period but Skagit's lead proved to be too big as a second half press from the defense was unable to generate enough stops to keep the game within reach. Both Pepper and
Keano Harwell scored 8 in the frame on direct drives doing their best to try and propel the Hawks but there would not be enough time in the period as the Cardinals would move on after the final buzzer.
CBC finishes the year at 14-14 in the regular season along with the playoff loss and will head into 26-27 with pieces to build around as they hunt for another Final Four appearance.
