Columbia Basin fell to Lower Columbia in the Elite 8 by a score of 65-50. Hailey Jamison lead the way for the Hawks with 16 points.
In a back and forth game seeing both teams trade leads early in the first half, the Hawks went into halftime with a 30-29 lead.
However, Lower Columbia unraveled the Hawks' evening in the span of ten minutes in the 4th quarter, outscoring them 25-10 in the final period to walk away with a 65-50 win on Holden Court. The Hawks finish a competitive three-quarter showing having led as late as 40-40 with ten minutes to play, making the collapse all the more difficult to process.
The story of the game was what Columbia Basin couldn't do: score at the rim late in the game. The team shot just 33.3% from the field on 66 attempts, converting only 22 baskets. They shot zero free throws — not a single trip to the line all night — while Lower Columbia converted 6 of 8. Those six points feel negligible on paper but represent the kind of margin that decides close games.
Ezrah Ray was the unsung engine all night, pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds — five on the offensive glass — but finished with just 4 points on 2-of-8 shooting, a frustrating encapsulation of the Hawks' night as a whole. Sadie Tanner added 7 rebounds and 3 assists while generating good looks inside. A couple of loose balls caused posession changes including two in the final minute of the third quarter that gave Lower Columbia the momentum it rode into the decisive period.
Jamison gave Hawks fans the brightest moments, scoring 16 on 4-of-11 from three. Nekha Roehl contributed 11 and a team-high 3 assists before sustaining an ankle injury late in the 3rd. Amber Swan chipped in 11 with 6 steals from opposing possessions swung Columbia Basin's way — but the offense couldn't cash them in.
Columbia Basin finishes the season with a 21-8 record and 5th place finish at the tournament.
