Roosevelt Smith enters his second year as the head coach for Columbia Basin.
Coach Smith grew up in Seattle and attended Highline High School and Highline Community College.  He played basketball at Highline Community College for Hall of Fame coach Fred Harrison. He then attended Central Washington University. At CWU he was heavily involved with athletics, serving as the JV Assistant and JV Head Coach for the Men’s Basketball Team. He was also the Assistant Head Men’s Basketball Coach and the Intramural Sports Supervisor. He also coached basketball at a middle school in Ellensburg.
Smith moved to Longview and was the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Lower Columbia College for ten years where they won back to back NWAACC Championships and finished in second place three times.
He has worked in management for the YMCA for over 23 years.
Smith is married to wife Mary who grew up in the Tri-Cities and attended Richland High School and CBC. They have three daughters. Jacki is a softball student-athlete at Bethune-Cookman University. Brandy is a basketball student-athlete at Eastern Oregon University, and Jordyn is a high school sophomore at Burlington-Edison High School.

He received two Associate Degrees from Highline Community College (Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement / General Studies)
Bachelor’s Degree from Central Washington University (Community Youth Athletic Programs).
