FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 3 Big Bend 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21)
Tamia Allen-Greggs and
Grace Morby each had 10 kills for the Hawks in a 3 set win over Big Bend on Wednesday. After a slow first set, CBC lead for most of the night as they battled hard against a short-rostered Vikings team.
Big Bend took an early lead in the first as Basin struggled to insert themselves into the set offensively. At 19-12, the Hawks began to find their hitters on the pin and chip away at the lead until they tied it up at 21. Allen-Greggs polished off the set with 3 kills in the final 4 points for CBC who took the set 25-22.
In set 2, it was CBC's turn to jump ahead early but this time, they cruised to a 25-21 set win behind a balanced effort from Morby and
Haley Bjorkman. After surviving a big punch by the Vikings in set 3, setter
Nya Calzadillas served up a couple of aces late to push the Hawks into a 7-1 run to finish off Big Bend.
The win helps Basin keep pace with Spokane in the East at 7-3, just one game behind the Sasquatch for first place. They will continue their homestand against Blue Mountain on Friday starting at 6pm.
