FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 1 Walla Walla 1
Columbia Basin settled for a draw today in the final game of the first half of league play against Walla Walla.
Andrea Martell scored the lone goal for the Hawks off a touch pass from
Shayne Ashe in the 27th minute. Walla Walla scored off a bad bounce for the Basin defense to tie it up 1-1 in the 51st minute. Both teams would fail to score in the remaining 40 minutes of play.
Despite controlling most of the game, CBC was unable to convert many attacks into scoring opportunities for much of the second half. In the 83rd minute, midfielder
Anabel Lin took a pass in the box and fired off a shot that appeared to deflect off a Walla defender. The Basin bench yelled out for the hand ball but none was awarded before the Warriors were able to clear it out. Both teams failed to convert any other tries before settling for the tie.
Coach Anderson's bunch will look to rebound from a previous loss to a Blue Mountain team on the road this Wednesday in Pendleton. Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm.
