FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 6 Treasure Valley 0
After a long layoff, Soccer got their chance to start their season back up against Treasure Valley. After opening up with a few strong chances that just missed wide left,
Andrea Martell was the first to find net off of a rebound shot from
Avery Bond in the the 9th minute. Treasure Valley then committed a hand-ball foul in the box which
Anabel Lin put away on the PK to make it 2-0 early. In the 19th minute,
Cassidie Andrews took an elbow to the chest before tangling legs with a TV defender only to receive a red card, much to the dismay of coach
Omar Anderson and the CBC staff.
The Hawks would hold off the Chukars into the second half still leading 2-0. Once they settled in with 10, they regained momentum with a goal by
Makilie Hernandez off of a great pass from Bond to make it 3-0 in the 69th minute. CBC scored 3 more times in the final 20 minutes to bury Treasure Valley for good.
Shayne Ashe, Lin and
Kylee Alvarez each score on deep shots outside of the box to leave no doubt.
Andrews will miss the next contest against Blue Mountain before coming back to play. The Hawks will host Blue Mountain on Wednesday April 7th before traveling to Yakima on Saturday the 10th.
