Columbia Basin defeated Walla Walla in both games of Saturday's double header. The Hawks took game one by a score of 10-2 in 5 innings and then 13-8 in the second game of the day. Sophomore pitcher
Amanda Brown went the distance in both games giving up just 10 runs on the day.
CBC jumped out ahead early in game one behind RBIs from
Kendra Hart and
McKenzie Lowry. Lowry's RBI single in the 2nd inning made it 6-1 CBC. Firstbaseman
Kylie Koszykowski finished the game 4-4 and scoring 3 of the 10 runs. Basin scored in all but the 3rd inning on their way to the easy win. Brown finished the game scattering 9 hits for only 2 runs in the effort throwing just 74 pitches.
Game 2 featured more power from the Hawk hitters including home runs from Hart and
Rylee Desautel. Both home runs came in the same inning. The two combined for 7 RBIs in the game. Desautel continues a hot streak in which she's now homered 5 times in her last 6 games. After the Warriors pulled ahead 2-0, the Hawk lineup scored 3 or more in the last 4 innings to put away Walla Walla behind another gutsy effort from Brown who pitched well enough to earn the complete game victory in game two.
The two wins split the season series against second place Walla Walla. They will return to the home field on Thursday where they will look to build upon a hot streak at the plate against Yakima Valley.
