Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Liulamaga's double-double lifts CBC over Spokane

CBC defeated Spokane at home to move to 2-2 in league on the year 67-60. Jada Liulamaga's 13 points and 12 rebounds lead the way for CBC while Ali May, Jenn Jacobo and Megan Holm score 10 or more.

Despite the 1-2 record in league heading into the night, Coach Amy Sokaitis was still looking for her first East win in competition with their lone win coming by forfeit over Yakima. A sluggish first quarter saw both teams even at 10-10. The Hawks 10 all came inside the arc as the they were 0 for 4 from deep. As the half wore on, the Hawks began to find their stride with May scoring 9 of her 13 points from deep. Basin began to dig into their bench minutes and keep their rotations fresh to make a 4th quarter push when the time came.

The 23-point second quarter helped propel them out to the 33-27 lead heading into half time. The Hawk defense seemed to give Spokane fits in the backcourt as their ball pressure forces Spokane into several last-second heaves in the shot clock.

The Bigfoot were determined to stay in the game as they mounted a big third quarter outscoring CBC 22-13 giving them a 49-46 lead heading into the 4th. Both Jacobo and Liulamaga began to drive deep in the teeth of the Bigfoot defense who struggled to stay in front. After a Makenna Brander jump shot made it 53-51 CBC with just 5 minutes to play, Jacobo and Liulamaga took turns getting to the rim to extend the lead to as many as 8 with a minute to go. Brandner sunk the dagger with just 52 seconds to go giving Basin a comfortable 6 point lead that they were able to take home for the 67-60 win.

CBC will travel next to Walla Walla on Saturday to take on a 10-3 Warrior team who will be a strong opponent. They will then return home for a 3 game home stand for the beginning of February.
