Columbia Basin defeated Yakima Valley in the second leg of the series 3-0 at home. Three different Hawks scored in the effort as CBC continues their unbeaten streak.
With Yakima missing star forward Rachel Farr, CBC was in position to take advantage. Out of the gate, they came firing away with shots on goal. Yakima's defense held soundly for the first 15 minutes.
Camryn Thoreson struck first on a cross from
Kassadi Suitonu to make it 1-0. Basin routinely peppered the goal to the tune of 9 shots on frame for the first half.
After a series of stopped attempts,
Violet Duran put away a header off a corner kick from Suitonu. They would carry the 2-0 lead into half comfortably.
The third strike came from
Janelly Verduzco on a jump kick off of a Thoreson pass across the box. Yakima was able to put forward any challenges as
Jayauna Keister and
Raquel Palmeira combined for the shutout on the day. Basin outshot the Yaks 18-4 on the day in a sound team effort.
The win moves CBC to 12-0-1 on the year (10-0-1 in the East). They host Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday the 19th as we come down the final stretch of league play.
