Columbia Basin defeated Wenatchee Valley at home in three sets. With that win, the Hawks have turned in a 36-3 home performance only dropping the 3 sets so far.
Lucendy Perez lead the way with 8 kills as CBC only needed 79 attacks to get the job done tonight.
Grace Morby and
Hokulani Sagapolu each added 5 a piece in the effort.Â
In the first set, Basin started a little slow allowing the Knights to creep out to a bit of a lead on a few aces and Hawk miscues. At 13-12, Basin went on an 8-1 run to pull away for the eventual set win 15-17. In the second set, CBC picked up the pace after a productive timeout. This time they made sure Wenatchee had no breathing room with a 10-0 run on the front end of the set.
Josephine Thompson was able to serve up a couple of aces as well as a few that lead to free balls for the Hawks. Perez finished off the set with a 4-0 run including an ace and a kill.
Nicole Parker took her turn starting off Set 3 with 8 straight points, mostly coming on Knight attack errors. Basin was able to get 14 different players into the box score outplaying Wenatchee again in the set. When the dust had settled,
Keymara Coleman put away a kill to finish the set off 15-14 for the sweep.
The win bumped Basin to 19-1 on the year and 7-1 in East Region play. They return for the second leg of a 3-game homestand against Spokane before taking on North Idaho in a rematach on Friday at 6pm.Â
