Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Defense key in 31-point win for Hawks

Columbia Basin defeated Lane at home 86-55 in convincing win. Bobby Siebers lead all scorers with 17 points off the bench. Christian Cross added 13 points in support.

With their trademark gritty defense, the Hawks held down another opponent to below 60 points. Coach Owens' bunch was able to get their hands in the passing lane while applying timely pressure forcing 20 Lane turnovers on the night. After a slow start offensively, Amar Rivers and Jayden Martinez were able to combine for 17 of the Hawks' 35 first half points while holding the Titans to just 25 points on the half.

On the other side of halftime, CBC continued to turn good defense into productive offense as the slowly began to stretch their lead to 15 before breaking it wide open. Siebers scored all of his 17 points in the half on 7-9 shooting while Cross posted 13 points in just 7 minutes of play. Lane converted just 2 of 22 shots from down town while failing to break the continuous pressure from the Hawks.

When the dust had settled, the Hawk bench outscored the Titans 62-55 while spreading the minutes around. The win keeps CBC undefeated at 5-0 on the year. They will take on an athletic Clark team in Game 2 of the tournament, tipping off at 4pm.
