Knights top Hawks at home 59-40

Wenatchee Valley defeated Columbia Basin in East Region play 59-40 after a rough first half for Basin. Ali May lead the way for CBC scoring 16 points. Emma Maxwell chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds on a tough shooting night.

May and company started off on pace with Wenatchee as both teams slowly started to settle into their offense. After one quarter, the Hawks trailed by just 3 points on 5-12 shooting. As the half wore on, the Hawks spent a few possessions with low energy that lead to a little WVC run before the defense could right the ship.

Outside of halftime, Basin was able to create some open looks in the half court and on second looks but struggled to put them away. Turnovers became the deciding factor as the Hawks gave a few passes away that lead to transition scores for Wenatchee. As the fourth quarter began to tick down, Basin continued to pressure the ball and create some turnovers of their own but the push would not be enough as Wenatchee was able to slow their possessions down and eat in to the clock for the eventual win.

The loss drops CBC to 2-4 in league but still in place to make a playoff push in February. They will return to the home court Saturday to take on a surging Blue Mountain squad starting at 2pm.
