Columbia Basin topped Walla Walla at home in straight sets.
Hokulani Sagapolu lead the way for CBC with 13 kills as the team finished with a .412 H%.
Despite the 3-0 final, the Warriors gave Basin fits in pockets early in the 1st and 3rd sets. Walla had 6 aces on the night but Sagapolu and Middle Blocker
Grace Morby were too much to handle. With the score 22-20, CBC reeled off 3 straight points to stave off a Warrior run with an ace from
Nicole Parker to finish off the set.
The Hawks dominated Set 2 racing ahead 17-8. CBC did their job and put together quality passes that kept the ball alive and forced Walla to commit several errors on the way to a 25-16 win.
With an 0-2 deficit looming, the Warriors threw their best haymaker at the Hawks in the 3rd. With a few mental mistakes from CBC, Walla jumped ahead 11-5. A quick timeout from Basin and they were right back on track with a 14-1 run. During the run, the Hawks looked like a championship caliber team with Sagapolu and
Tamia Allen-Greggs putting away some balls with extra heat on them. Morby would put the cherry on top of the night with an unreturnable ace to finish the night off at 25-16.
The win moves CBC to 15-1 on the year (4-1 in the East). They will get a tester when Yakima Valley comes to town on Saturday. A win will give the Hawks sole possession of 2nd place on their way to a rematch with North Idaho.
