Columbia Basin defeated Big Bend at home 73-63.
Trinidie Nichols flirted with a triple-double posting 14 points 9 assists and 7 rebounds.
Lexie Heath lead the Hawk scoring with 19 points while
Kenzi Pedersen scored 14 in the paint.
With some momentum now mounting for the Hawks after a big win against Yakima, they were eager to keep climbing the standings. Both teams traded empty possessions early to start the game while establishing a transition game. Heath was able to connect on a few jump shots while
Erin Morgan provided a spark off the bench to build a 14-13 lead after the first quarter. CBC's defense seemingly gave the Vikings backcourt issues all night as they struggled to hit any shots outside of 5 feet.
Big Bend would take the lead in the second but a little bit of applied pressure from Basin aided in erasing the deficit. The Vikings turned it over 8 times in the period which lead to four 3's from Nichols and Heath on the way to a 38-29 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, CBC would need to counter the Vikings big punch inside but what ever was thrown at them, the Hawks were able to answer. Once the fourth rolled around,
Mickayla Robertson paced the Hawks with 6 free throws while the team went 12 of 14 from the line on their way to the 10 point victory.
The win lifts CBC back above 500 in conference play at 3-2. They will continue on with the homestand this Saturday against Treasure Valley.Â
