North Idaho defeated Columbia Basin at home in 3 tight sets.
Caydence Taylor had 13 kills while
Zuri Reeser added 12 in the effort. Yajaida Meraz lead the setting with 20 assists.
Trying to come off a 2-game skid, the Hawks turned in a quality performance without their starting middle-
Meredith Moszeter. CBC traded blows back and forth with NIC in set 1 leading for a decent portion of the frame but a
Zuri Reeser 2-0 run fell just short at 25-23.
Deep in Set 2, CBC was neck and neck at 20-19 but a couple of errors allowed NIC to get to set-point winning 25-21. Basin did a great job in the back row handling plenty of hard hit attacks and turning them around into chances of their own.
Again in Set 3, the Hawks lead for most of the frame but a referee-overturned call on what looked like a sure kill for Reeser turned the momentum. Taylor's kill held serve for Basin at 24-24 but another tip kill by NIC, heavily contested by CBC gave NIC the match at 26-24.
A bright performance by the short-handed team goes empty as CBC drops to 3-3 in East Region play (11-8 Overall). They are still deep in the playoff mix with an opportunity to bounce back against Spokane at home on Friday starting at 6pm.
