Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain 6-1 in convincing fashion to keep their unbeaten streak alive.
Jorge Perez and
Gabriel Delgado each scored a pair of goals in their league leading 11th win of the year.
Blue Mountain was determined to force CBC into turnovers without their starting Center Back-
Alexander Magana. Lead by
Jorge Perez, the Hawks were just too much on offense. Perez put away a
Diego Lopez throw-in early in the period to get CBC on the board first. The Timberwolves continued their pressure of the back line but Perez got loose in the box and was able to net one on his own.
Blue was able to get the turnover they were looking for to cut the lead to 2-1 at the 30 minute mark but
Jose Napoles put any sort of rally to bed immediately upon entering the game with the goal from Perez. Delgado connected on his first goal off the rebounded shot by Perez to take CBC into half up 4-1.
Outside of halftime, freshman
Julian Reyes was able to draw a foul in the box that he handed off to Delgado who converted the penalty kick for the 5th goal by Basin. In the 64th minute, Magana's replacement Oscar Gurolla scored his first goal of the season as he was able to turn in a quality performance in his second start in a row.
The Hawks are just a win and a Walla Walla tie or loss away from clinching their 3rd straight East Region title (4 out of the last 5). They will travel to Treasure Valley to face the Chukars on Wednesday before returning home to take on Spokane.
