Columbia Basin defeated Yakima Valley 3-0 at home as 3 different players scored for CBC.
Another shutout for Basin at home lead by the early goal of
Emma Haertling off a great through-ball from
Sierra Larios in the 8th minute. The Hawks struggled early with their ball control on the attacking end of the field while seeming out of sync at times. Haertling's early goal took the pressure off as Yakima seemed set to try and pack it in on the back end hoping for a mistake on the CBC backline.
Angelina Keister was able to put another shot away off a touch pass from
Ava Suarez in the box giving the Hawks a comfortable 2-0 pad.
Outside of halftime, Basin was able to rotate players through the lineup but was unable to get any quality looks for most of the period. In the 86th minute, Jolee Green-Cerillo scored off a corner kick with
Janelly Verduzco adding a touch leading to the goal. The Yaks were only able to get off two shots that were easily handled by keeper
Jayauna Keister as they rolled to their 7th win of the season.
The Hawks remain atop the East Region at 4-0-1 with a looming showdown against Walla Walla for control of the division. They will first travel to NIC on Wednesday to take on the Cardinals at 2pm.
