Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Barker dominates the paint as Hawks beat Bigfoot 74-60

Columbia Basin defeated Spokane 74-60 at home to move to 2-0 in East Region play. Latrell Barker lead all scorers with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Ta'Veus Randle added 18 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds in support.

CBC was able to do what they do best- play stellar defense and grind teams down into a pulp before emerging victorious. Against an ever-dangerous Spokane team, the Hawks defense stepped up big allowing CBC to lead wire to wire on Saturday night. Barker and fellow big man Anton Williams had their way with the Sasquatch inside combining for 29 and 18. Basin was able to control the tempo of the game in the first half on their way to a 34-23 lead at the break.

Outside of halftime, Spokane came ready to put up a fight but it was the vaunted CBC press that created turnovers converted into easy transition buckets. The Hawks lead by 19 with 11:30 to go looking poised to run away with it but the Sasquatch threw on a press of their own seemingly giving Basin fits for about 8 minutes. They were able to cut it to 11 but 3 straight transition lobs to Barker helped pushed the lead back to 19 with 3 minutes to go. From there, they were able to back in the to 74-60 win.

Another home win moves the Hawks to 2-0 in conference play and 10-5 on the year. They will attempt to travel back to Ontario for the make-up game against 1st place Treasure Valley. Tipoff scheduled for 7pm MDT.
