Hawks outshoot Warriors but settle for 1-1 draw

Columbia Basin tied with Walla Walla in the second leg of their season series 1-1 at home. Daniel Farias scored the lone goal for the Hawks on the day.

In need of a win or draw for sole possession of first place in the East, the Hawks would have to settle for the draw. Despite the onslaught of shots, the Warrior defense always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to turn away those chances. Farias opened up the scoring of a cross from Alex Martinez to give CBC the early 1-0 lead.

Walla Walla answered quickly in the 35th minute. In whats been the achilles heel of the Basin defense, a free kick was converted by the Warriors for the equalizer. In the second half, Basin began to pepper the Warrior defense with 12 shots in the period including 8 of them on goal. Rafael Lucio was able to post up off a corner kick and send a rocket header that found the leg of the keeper before he could even react to the shot. Despite the offensive, Basin was forced into the 1-1 tie on the day.

The Hawks still hold a 2 point lead over the Warriors to remain atop the East Region but will need to win out for the moment to remain in control of the region. They will get a chance to rebound at home on October 12th vs. Wenatchee Valley at home.
