Columbia Basin defeated Shoreline at home for their third win in a row by score of 84-57.
Amber Swan lead all scorers with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Analyssa Maldonado turned in a triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in support.
After two strait wins in Walla Walla during the Warrior Classic, the Hawks returned to the home floor to take on the Shoreline Dolphins in Game 1 of the December Invite. The Hawks came out blazing with a full court trap and a quick transition game. Swan and freshman
Sadie Tanner combined for 18 in the opening period as CBC pulled ahead early 25-17 after the first quarter. As the second period wore on, the Phins looked unable to keep up the pace setting trend of Basin. Swan was up and down at both ends scoring 14 of her 28 in the second quarter as Tanner and Maldonado were eyes ahead with qualtiy passes her way. The defense began to lean on Shoreline who only scored 8 points in the second, allowing the Hawks to take a 53-25 lead into the break.
Outside of halftime, Shoreline was able to hit some shots deep in the paint with their height but they would only cut the lead to to 24 before CBC took it to the house in the 4th. Swan's work was mostly done as she gave way to her teammates to steer the ship home in the 4th. Maldonado added two assists in the 4th to give her the official triple-double, her first of the season. As the final buzzer sounded, it was Basin 84 Shoreline 57 giving the Hawks their 3rd win in a row after a tough 0-2 start to open the year.
The Hawks will get a crack at an upstart Clark team who beat Walla Walla in the opening game of the tournament 72-65. Tipoff is schedule for Saturday at 2pm.
