Chukars down Hawks in double header

Treasure Valley defeated Columbia Basin in a pair of Friday games by scores of 7-1 and 9-7. Stephanie Bryson finished the day 3-6 at the plate with 2 RBIs.

GAME 1

Alexis Blankenship lead off the game for the Hawks with a leadoff walk before getting moved over to third on a sac bunt. With 1st and 3rd, Blankenship was unable to convert on the double steal that left Basin scoreless after 1. The Chukars were able to cage the offensive attack from there as they scored 3 in the third and a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 7-0 lead.

Bryson lead off the 7th with a single before being brought home with an RBI single from Bree Waldron. The Hawks were able to get 1st and 3rd again but were unable to convert further as they came up short 7-1.

GAME 2

Game 2 featured a much better attack from the plate by Basin. Lauryn Krick doubled to the wall in the bottom of the first to get CBC on the board early. Anna-Marie Shaffer then singled in a run in the second extending the lead to 2. The big inning came in the third where Blankenship, Bryson and Payton Dressler all notched RBIs capped by Dressler's bases loaded single to right that scored 2 pushing the lead to 7-2.

The Chukars came right back with 2 in the fourth and another in the fifth cutting the lead to just 7-5. A couple of singles to lead off the 7th saw Treasure threaten the lead and eventually connect on a bases clearing double giving them the lead for the first time all game. The Hawks were unable to answer in the bottom of the 7th as Treasure Valley took the second game of the day by the 9-7 final.

CBC will remain as the 10-seed in the RPI rankings heading into Sophomore Day against the Blue Mountain Timberwolves on Saturday starting at 12pm. The sophomore celebration will take place following the completion of Game 2 at approximately 4:30pm.
