Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain 5-0 at home on Wednesday.
Arena McDermott lead the offense with 2 goals.
Shelby Geiger,
Olivia Mendoza and
Allie Draper all added a goal in support.
In their first home game of the year, CBC put on a show for the crowd on ASCBC day. Facing an upstart Blue Mountain team, the Hawks wasted no time getting going as Geiger scored in the 7th minute off the touch from
Ruby Shroll. McDermott got on the board in the 11th minute with her first of the day to make it 2-0. CBC looked poised in the defense that helped routinely create open looks for attackers. McDermott scored again in the 3rd minute on a rebounded shot in the box.Â
Blue Mountain was forced to sub keepers after a scary collision late in the half. In stoppage time, Mendoza sent a long free kick toward the goal that sailed just high enough to glance off the keepers hands for the 4th goal of the half.
Outside of halftime, Draper scored another deep deflected ball for the 5th and final goal of the day as Basin cruised in to the 5-0 finish.Â
CBC improves to 2-0 in East Region play (3-1 Overall). They will look to keep the wins going as Treasure Valley comes to town on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 2:15pm.
