Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer suffers first defeat at home 2-0

Columbia Basin battled hard on their home pitch Wednesday afternoon but ultimately fell 2-0 to visiting Spokane in a tightly contested NWAC matchup.

The Hawks controlled much of the early tempo, creating opportunities through the midfield and pressing high to force Spokane onto the back foot. Jayson Castillo and Felix Mendoza each tested the Spokane defense with early looks, while goalkeeper Andres Campos stood tall, stopping four shots over the full 90 minutes. Columbia's back line, anchored by Jorge Ibarra and Axel Arellano, worked well to disrupt Spokane's rhythm and keep the first half scoreless.

The second half saw the game tilt slightly, and despite Columbia's consistent build-up play, Spokane capitalized on their few chances. A goal in the 51st minute broke the deadlock, followed by a penalty conversion in the 67th minute. Still, the Hawks refused to fade. Substitutes Rudy Silva and Julio Andrade injected energy, each producing dangerous chances that forced saves from Spokane keeper Noah Jordan. Columbia also racked up eight total shots, outpacing Spokane's six, but the finishing touch proved elusive.

Though the result was not in their favor, Columbia Basin showed grit and creativity throughout. With an 8-1 overall record, the Hawks remain firmly in contention and will look to rebound quickly in their next conference outing.
