Columbia Basin defeated Big Bend at home 55-46.
Bobby Siebers lead all scorer's with 17 points while
Keiren Brown added 13 of his own.
Coming into a game hoping to score 60+, the Hawks knew they were in for a low-scoring affair against a Big Bend team who likes to slow the game down. The Vikings took an early lead as CBC looked sluggish on offense while trying to break the zone defense. After a quick first half, the Vikings made an off-balance layin to make it 24-19 with with 1:30 to go. But free throws from
Coleton Hansen and a big and-1 by
Zadkiel Rodarte tied the game up at 24 going into the break.
Basin caught its stride to open the half with an 8-2 run capped by a Siebers 3 to make it 32-27 CBC. Siebers caught fire then following up with a tough score at the rim and another big three giving the Hawks a 10 point lead with 6 minutes to go. The Vikings tried to answer with a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 46-43. A Brown jumpshot and a few free throws would ice it for Basin on their way to the 55-46 win.
The win moves CBC back above 500 in league play at 5-4. They will return to the home court for Sophomore Night against Wenatchee Valley on Saturday February 15th.Â
