Overwatch Prepares for 3rd Place Nationals Match as Rocket League Begins their National Playoff Run after a 2nd Place Regional Finish

With the bracket reset in motion and the Central Regional Championship on the line, both squads came out swinging. Game 1 started with Salt Lake CC striking first. CBC quickly responded as Tyce "Evanchase" Rogers found Jason "Yaxon" Gomez for the equalizer with a minute and 43 seconds left to spare. Unfortunately, SLCC regained control late, netting the go-ahead goal with just 22 seconds remaining to take Game 1. Game 2 saw CBC come alive. Jason "Yaxon" Gomez returned the favor with a slick pass to Tyce "Evanchase" Rogers for the first goal early in the match. Moments later, Daniel "Lanix" Lanier hit a crisp pass to Tyce "Evanchase" Rogers to extend the lead. Then, Tyce "Evanchase" Rogers found Jason "Yaxon" Gomez cutting across net for the last goal of the game. CBC evened the series 1-1. Game 3 was a statement. Jason "Yaxon" Gomez pulled off an absurd double tap from the opponent's corner to start the scoring. Right after that a monster clear from Daniel "Lanix" Lanier found Tyce "Evanchase" Rogers downfield for a wide-open net. Daniel "Lanix" Lanier sealed the game with a final strike with just 16 seconds left. CBC found themselves up 2-1 in the series. Game 4 was an all-out slugfest that pushed into overtime. Both teams traded chances, but Salt Lake managed to sneak one through, forcing a deciding Game 5. In Game 5, SLCC struck first, and that lone goal was just enough. Despite relentless pressure from the Hawks, Salt Lake held on to win the game, the series, and the NJCAAE Central Regional Championship. Still, the CBC Hawks finish as Regional Runners-Up and have earned their spot in the NJCAAE National Playoffs on Tuesday, April 22nd, with a match up against Heartland Community College at 6:00pm PST.

The CBC Hawks kicked off their NJCAAE Nationals run facing off against Bryant & Stratton College in Round 1, but it was a tough day. Map 1 took place on Lijiang Tower in the Control game mode. Control is a best-of-three game mode where teams fight to hold a designated point, building up percentage to 100% to secure the round. BSC came out swinging, taking early control of the point while CBC struggled to find pressure or convert kills. CBC managed to gain 12% on the control point, but Bryant & Stratton College stayed in full command and secured the map win. Map 2 shifted to King's Row in the Hybrid game mode. Hybrid begins with an Assault capture point, transitioning into an Escort payload push. CBC opened on defense, but a quick team wipe from BSC set the tone. Lucas "BAAAAABAAAAA" Grenier and Skylar "skitsu" Phanekham showed some fight with two picks, and Lucas "BAAAAABAAAAA" Grenier added another pair of eliminations, but it wasn't enough to stop BSC from winning the round. On attack, CBC battled hard to break through and managed to capture the first point and start the payload push, but BSC held strong to take Map 2. Map 3 was played on Rialto in the Escort game mode. Escort requires the attacking team to push a payload to multiple checkpoints while the defending team attempts to halt their progress. CBC began on defense, showing brief flashes of life but couldn't match BSC's momentum as they completed their push. Switching sides, CBC was unable to reach the first checkpoint, and Bryant & Stratton closed out the series with a 3-0 sweep. CBC will look to regain their footing as they play for 3rd place April 23rd, at 3pm PST against Daytona State.
