Game Recap: Softball |

Hawks extend win streak to 18 with wins over Blue Mountain

Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain in a softball doubleheader by scores of 9-0 and 12-0. Lauryn Krick picked up the win in Game 1 while Amarie Guzman fired a complete game in the second of the day.

GAME 1

Entering the day with a 16 game win streak, the Hawks were methodical but effective in their win in Game 1. Starter Lauryn Krick was only touched for 1 hit in 5 innings of work while striking out 10 of the 17 batters she faced. Raquel Palmeira got CBC on the board in the first with a 2-run home run. Jaycee Jacbson doubled in one before being brought home by Bree Waldron's 2-RBI single making it 5-0 after 2 innings.

Krick didn't meat much resistance as she tossed 54 of her 77 pitches for strikes. Leia Duropan homered in the 3rd and drove in 2 in the 5th. Krik added an RBI herself in the 4th as the Hawks cruised for the 9-0 win in 5 innings.

Krick currently leads the NWAC in average, home runs and RBIs from the plate while sitting in the top 5 for ERA and #1 in strikeouts from the circle as she puts together one of the best two-way seasons in NWAC history.

GAME 2

Freshman Amaire Guzman got the ball in Game 2 and turned in her best performance of the year. She allowed just one hit in 5 innings of work throwing just 66 pitches in the effort. Basin gave her plenty of run support scoring at least 2 runs in every inning.

Krick homered in the 1st (her 21st of the year) for an early 2-0 lead. Thirdbaseman Vivian Pimentel turned in a 3-3 game with 2 extra base hits and 4 RBIs. Kenadie Goudette homered in the 2nd scoring Pimentel. Pimentel and Adrianna Steele each doubled in the 3rd to make it 9-0. Another homer for Duropan in the 4th alongside RBIs from Pimentel and Kaylie Christopher capped the scoring at 12 for the game.

Guzman worked out of a bases loaded, no-out jam in the 3rd getting a strikeout followed by a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning. From there, she retired 9 of 10 batters to finish with the complete game 1-hitter.

CBC moves to 30-2 on the year while remaining #2 in the RPI behind undefeated Lower Columbia. They will take on Treasure Valley Saturday April 26th at home starting at 12pm.
