Columbia Basin split their home double-header with Wenatchee Valley by scores of 0-16 and 9-5.
Branson Rozier picked up the win in relief for the Hawks.
GAME 1
A sluggish game at the plate for CBC saw Wenatchee Valley take an early 6-0 lead headed into the 7th inning. Starter
Dylan Schlenger did his best to mitigate but with the wind blowing out, the Knights ran into a few deep balls. WVC plated 10 in the 7th inning as control problems reared their head for the Hawk bullpen resulting in the 16-0 final.
GAME 2
The bats came alive in the second contest.
Caden Yesford belted a 2-run homer to get Basin in the board in the 4th.
James Lawrence connected on an RBI double before being scored by
Xavier Streadbeck as part of a 4-run 4th inning.
Schuler got himself into a jam in the top of the 5th inning but
Branson Rozier helped get out of it with a 4-3 lead intact. Yesford singled in another in the 5th to make it 6-5.
A big 6th inning with RBIs from
Cole Rohlmeier,
Diego Escandon and
Alex Chamberlain increased the lead to 8-5 and Lawrence again in the 8th brought an insurance run home on a sac fly. Rozier cruised in his final 4 innings allowing just 2 runs but working a clean 7th, 8th and 9th inning to preserve the win for CBC.
The Hawks remain in 2nd place in the East at 15-9 with a 4-game series remaining against Blue Mountain before the playoffs.Â
