Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Roehl's 18 leads Hawks over Yaks at home 74-51

Columbia Basin defeated Yakima Valley at home 74-51 to move to 2-1 in conference play. Nekha Roehl lead all scorers with 18 points to go with 9 rebounds. Hailey Jamison added 13 points in the winning effort.

Coming off a sluggish start to the new year, CBC came in with a new energy that translated to their effort plays. With an early press, the Hawks climbed to a 10-point lead after 1 with Roehl scoring 10 of her 18 to open the game. The defense continued even in the half court as the Hawks gave no easy looks for Yakima who shot just 3 of 24 from deep on the night.

Another strong quarter in the 3rd saw Basin extend their lead to as many as 32 entering the 4th. The second 6 off the bench provided quality minutes to go along with 17 bench points for a team in need of scoring off the bench. Yakima would take the 4th quarter 19-14 but it was not enough as CBC settled back into the 74-51 final and their second region win in a row.

Basin will get its first home test of the year as Big Bend comes to town in a matchup of East heavyweights this Saturday on Holden Court. Tipoff scheduled for 4pm.
