Men's Basketball makes it 3 in a row with win against Wenatchee Valley at home

Columbia Basin controlled the game from start to finish in a 62–46 conference win over Wenatchee Valley on Friday afternoon at Columbia Basin College.

The Hawks set the tone early, taking a 33–26 lead into halftime behind efficient shooting and steady defensive pressure. Columbia Basin finished the game shooting 43.1 percent from the field (22-of-51) and limited Wenatchee Valley to 35.3 percent shooting. The home team also held the Knights to just 5-of-25 from three-point range, a key factor in maintaining control throughout the second half.

Columbia Basin outscored Wenatchee Valley 29–20 after the break, continuing to build separation with balanced scoring and rebounding. The Hawks won the battle on the glass 38–34 and generated second-chance opportunities with 11 offensive rebounds. Defensively, Columbia Basin forced 15 turnovers and converted those into 11 points.

The Hawks were particularly effective in the paint, scoring 34 points inside compared to 26 for Wenatchee Valley. Ball movement was consistent, as Columbia Basin recorded 14 assists on 22 made field goals while keeping turnovers to a manageable level. The home team also held an edge at the free-throw line, shooting 72.2 percent compared to Wenatchee Valley's 55.6 percent.

Wenatchee Valley was led by its early first-half scoring run but struggled to sustain offense as Columbia Basin adjusted defensively. The Knights managed just 20 points in the second half and did not hold a lead after the opening minutes of the game.

With the win, Columbia Basin improved to 10–10 overall and 3–3 in conference play. The Hawks will look to carry the defensive consistency and interior scoring into their next matchup as they continue to push for positioning in the NWAC standings.
