Columbia Basin downed Wenatchee Valley at home by scores of 13-5 and 12-4.
Taylor Martinez and
Dallaney Unseth each finished with complete games in the effort.
GAME 1
After coming up short earlier in the week, the Hawk hitters came alive against the Knights. Wenatchee took an early 2-0 lead in a long first inning but Basin was ready to fight.
Hannah Robertson singled in 2 runs to kick off a 4-run inning with
Macey McCuistion doubling her in to take a 4-2 lead.Â
In the bottom of the 2nd,
Halli Lott capped a 5-run inning with a 3-run homerun to dead left. Marintez settled in the circle allowing just 5 runs on 4 hits and striking out 7. McCuistion doubled home Lott in the 4th to extend the lead to 10-5.
Jaycee Jacobson and Robertson each had triples in the 5th with Robertson bringing home 2 runs to give the Hawks the early finish and the first win of the day.
GAME 2
Unseth took the circle in Game 2 trying to match Martinez's effort and that she did. Unseth allowed just 4 runs on 4 hits and struck out 6 of her own.Â
Robertson doubled in the 1st giving Basin a 2-1 lead. Wenatchee was able to plate 3 in the 3rd inning but that would be it against Unseth for the day. Robertson connected on a 3-run homer to center as part of a huge day for her at the plate giving CBC the lead back at 8-4.Â
Laci Ross hit her 10th homer of the year, a no-doubter, to dead center for a 10-4 lead. With runners at 1st and 3rd,
Taylor Martinez took a rare pinch hit and doubled to left center bringing home both runs for the early finish.
The wins move CBC to 23-19 on the year and holding strong as the 9-seed in the RPI rankings. They will host Yakima Valley on Sophomore Day this Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 12pm, ceremony to follow Game 2.
