CBC impressed a packed crowd Wednesday with a big 16 point win over Big Bend. Freshman Grayson Nelson turned in a breakout game with 22 points 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Denzel Brantley scored 17 points in the effort.

Less than a month ago, CBC suffered an 11 point loss in Moses Lake to an athletic Viking roster. They quickly jumped on the Vikes 18-6 with crisp offense and Nelson leading the defensive effort.

Brantley and Nelson combined for 25 of the 31 points in the first half. Big Bend slowly crept back into the game with Jonathan Thomas' 9 points off the bench to cut it to 31-25 at half.

Second halves had not been kind to Basin at home in recent opportunities resulting in losses to Yakima Valley and North Idaho. Again, Bryan Edwards would be tasked with navigating his team through a second half lead.

Nelson continued to use his size inside turning shots away on defense and laying smooth jump hooks in on the offensive end. Ryan Wolf and Miguel Hernandez helped create turnovers on defense while Wolf made play after play to keep his team at a 10+ point advantage.

CBC made 9 of 11 free throws in the second half to stave of any chance of Big Bend coming back cruising to the 16 point victory.

The Hawks will travel to Blue Mountain looking for back to back wins and some momentum heading forward. The women will play at 2 and the men will start at 4.
