Esports Has Strong Start for Fall 2026 Season

Esports started off the Fall 2026 season last week. Starting off with Tekken 8, Andres "Puncakes" Uribe returned for CBC from a 3rd place National finish last Spring season. CBC matched up against a double header against Guilford Technical Community College and Hudson Valley Community College for week 1. Starting off against GTCC, Andres opened with a quick 3-0 round win for match one in a best 3-out-of-5. In match 2, GTCC was able to take one round, but a 4th round "perfect" win (no damage taken) from CBC, the Hawks took a 2-0 series lead. Round 3 CBC was able to close it out with another 3-0 round win, winning the series 3-0. Game 2 against HVCC was a quick series, with a 2-0 lead given to CBC due to a "Delay of Game" rule violation against HVCC, along with match 3 resulting in another forfeit due to the use of a "custom" skin used by HVCC, which violation results in a match forfeit. Tekken 8 opens the season up 2-0 overall as they look to prolong their undefeated season into Week 2.

Rocket League is supporting 2 teams this season, CBC Blue and CBC White in the Fall 2026 season. Starting off the double headers, CBC Blue matched up against Wake Technical Community College and Walters State Community College, with CBC White matched up against Missouri State University – West Plains and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. CBC Rocket League Blue with their match against WTCC showed early dominance for CBC, with a 3-0 series victory (7-1, 7-0, 5-1). In CBC Blue second match against WSCC, the Hawks knocked out another 3-0 sweep to start off the season 2-0 (5-1, 5-1, 3-2). CBC White first game of the season against MSUWP ended in a strong 3-0 victory (3-2, 5-1, 2-1). In their second game against NEO, CBC White tried to battle back but fell short in a 0-3 series loss, taking their record to 1-1 at the start of the season (1-9, 3-6, 2-5).

Overwatch started their season with a matchup against Northeast Iowa Community College. Going to map 1 "Antarctic Peninsula" for control, the Hawks held NICC to two 100% to 0% control points to take map 1. NICC took the teams to map 2 "King's Row". CBC electing to the defense, Columbia Basin full-held NICC, and then winning on the first team fight to take map 2. Map 3 the teams traveled to "Dorado", with the Hawks electing to be on the defensive side again. NICC were able to find some progress on first point but unable to cap the first checkpoint. CBC were able to close out map 3 and pick up the 3-0 series win to pick up their first win of the season.

Valorant began their season with a game against Marshalltown Community College, which the Hawks recently competed against in National Playoffs in Spring 2026 season, where the Hawks defeated MCC. Going to map 1, picked by MCC, "Haven" was the selection. CBC took a swift 3-0 round lead until Marshalltown picked up their first round, taking the score to 3-1. Both teams began to trade the next few rounds until CBC took a time out as a round score of 4-3. The timeout resulted with the Hawks going on a 5-0 run, ending a clutch 1 verses 2 situation by Jesus "Telekit" Armenta, going into the halftime at 9-3. Giving up 3 rounds to MCC while on defense, CBC were able to close out map 1 with a win at 13-6. Map 2, CBC pick for "Ascent" went all in favor for MCC, going 3-9 in favor of MCC, and a swift 4-13 win for Marshalltown in map 2 to force a map 3 on "Lotus", another CBC map pick. Both teams switched leads multiple times in map 3 in a close match, with MCC going into the halftime with an advantage to round of 5-7. CBC were able to quickly rally back with a 4-0 run before MCC taking another round. After picking up one more round, the Hawks were able to close out map 3 with a score of 13-9, winning the series 2-1.
