Box Score FINAL SCORE: Big Bend 73     Columbia Basin 56

Big Bend held off a late rally by CBC to pull away 73-56. Isabella Gutierrez lead the Hawks off the bench with 14 points and 2 blocks. Both Ali Martineau and Sami Sanders added 12 a piece in the losing effort.

Early on, CBC struggled to convert in the lane missing a few short attempts. Big Bend was red hot early shooting 57% from the field. After falling behind 18, Gutierrez tallied 6 points in the second quarter to help cut the lead to 14 at the break.

Martineau scored all 12 of her points in the 3rd period as the Hawks won the quarter while shooting 50%. The defensive intensity began to pick up and Big Bend cooled off and turned the ball over 4 times.

Coach Smith rallied his troops to make one final push in the 4th cutting the lead down to 5 with Sanders and Gutierrez combining for 15 but a few missed shots eventually did CBC in as Big Bend separated late to stifle the comeback.

Columbia Basin will travel to Blue Mountain on Saturday to try and get back in the win column. Games start at 2pm for the women and 4pm for the men.
