CBC continues home win streak over Treasure Valley

CBC defense deflects a pass
Box Score FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 70   Treasure Valley 66

Columbia Basin squared off against Treasure in a heated match that resulted in a close win. Four Hawks scored in double figures lead by Ali Martineau's 19 points.

Martineau and company came out early against the Chukars scoring 21 points in the first quarter. Alex Morfin netted 6 points to help create a 5 point lead. Treasure Valley rallied back to cut it to 2 points at half. Some offensive woes bogged CBC down with 5 turnovers in what amounted to a 6-2 run for TV to end the half.

Things got testy in the third as a few close calls fired up both benches. With 4:16 to go in the Third, officials reviewed a blow to the head that was upheld and Treasure Valleys head coach was removed from the contest. Basin was able to stretch the lead back to back to 8 after the period. Martineau and Isabella Gutierrez combined for 11 on the quarter.

The fourth quarter came down to the final minute with Martineau sinking a Free throw to extend the lead to 4 with 17 seconds to go. A Savvy defensive switch helped CBC steal the inbound to seal the game with 5 seconds to go with Sami Sanders in control of the ball.

The win pushes Basins record to 5-9 in league. They will be back in action for sophomore night this Saturday against Walla Walla starting at 2pm.
