Box Score FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 54 Wenatchee Valley 69
Another slow start for CBC lead to an unsuccessful comeback.
Sami Sanders scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the losing effort while freshman
Anna Reeves scored 12 points off the bench.
The Hawks began the night down 11-0 early after some lay-ins couldn't find their mark. Both Sanders and
Allexus Montelongo had great looks that fell just off the back of the rim.
With a few defensive stops in the second quarter, Basin cut the lead down to 13 at half. The Hawks shot 63% from the floor in the second period all while slowing Wenatchee's outside shooting for a brief period.
In the 3rd quarter, Sanders had 2 blocks and a steal to help hold the Knights to only 8 points on the quarter. Heading into the 4th, Coach Smith seemed poised to have his team ready to try and get back over the top.
Starting the 4th,
Ali Martineau hit a baseline jumper to cut the lead down to 7 but a few empty possessions proved costly late as Wenatchee extended their lead and would not look back winning by 15.
The loss drops Basin to 3-8 in league play but they will get a chance for a sweep as Spokane comes to town on the 12th. That game will start at 5:30 and be followed immediately by the men at 7:30.
